Ensuring a Safe Start for Every Family

While we aim to rescue as many items as possible, we have a responsibility to ensure that every piece of furniture we redistribute is safe, legal, and ready to use. For these reasons, there are certain items we unfortunately cannot accept.

These items include:

Upholstered Furniture Without a Fire Safety Label

For safety reasons and to comply with UK regulations, we can only accept sofas, armchairs and padded items that have a valid fire safety label attached. If the label has been removed, unfortunately, we won’t be able to collect the item.

Water-Damaged or Mould-Affected Furniture

We’re unable to accept items that have:

  • Been exposed to flooding
  • Visible mould
  • A strong, damp smell
  • Swollen or weakened wood

These items can pose health risks and are not suitable for reuse.

Items Beyond Practical Repair

We love rescuing furniture — but we’re not a disposal service. Sadly, we can’t collect items that are:

  • Structurally unsafe
  • Severely broken
  • Missing key parts
  • Heavily damaged beyond reasonable repair

If it wouldn’t be suitable in your own home, it likely won’t be suitable for someone else’s.

Non-Working Electrical Items

For safety reasons, we’re unable to accept electrical goods that:

  • Do not work
  • Have damaged wiring
  • Cannot be safely tested

Heavily Soiled or Infested Items

We’re unable to accept furniture with:

  • Heavy staining
  • Strong odours
  • Significant tears
  • Signs of pests or infestation

We want every item we redistribute to be safe, clean and dignified for the person receiving it.

We truly appreciate every offer of donation. Together, we’re reducing landfill and supporting local people — one item at a time.
